JoeJoeJoe (Walnes) and Charles Lowell (fellow Thoughtworkers) were working on Joe's idea of a way of firing out async message invocations over AltRMI.  Methods eligible for firing would return void and have no checked exceptions thrown.  The could be serialized and queued and both ends of an AltRMI transport then invoked on objects that had registered as subscribers.  It will be quite easy to implement over plain AltRMI, but Joe mulls a second distribution impl that leverages JMS (completely hidden) and has all the usual benefits of JMS such as multicast etc. Charles and Joe got as far as the failing unit test (AltRMI was playing up for newbies, Charles did not have Ant on his machine, and Dr August Dvorak frequently interfered with the windows).
